How do I choose the mode? (Email vs. Facebook / Messenger)
Select Email if the message came to your inbox (like Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo). Select Facebook / Messenger if the message is a chat conversation, a Marketplace message, or a comment.
What should I paste? (And what NOT to paste)
What to paste: Copy and paste the message or email text. If there are links, email addresses, or payment names mentioned, include them too.
⚠️ What NOT to paste: For your security, never paste highly sensitive personal details. This includes passwords, your Social Security number, bank account details, or credit card numbers.
Common examples of what to paste
- A suspicious email claiming your account will be locked or suspended.
- A Messenger chat where a buyer asks you to send them a code to "verify" you are real.
- A chat message claiming you won a raffle, lottery, or promotion.
- A message from someone you don't know asking you to buy gift cards, invest in crypto, or send money.
What does the risk score mean?
- 0 to 39 (Low Risk): No obvious scam patterns were detected. Important: A low score does not guarantee safety. Scammers constantly find new tricks, so you should still proceed with caution.
- 40 to 79 (Medium Risk): Some warning signs were found. Pause and verify. Contact the person or company through a trusted phone number or their official app, not by using links or details in the message.
- 80 to 100 (High Risk): Strong scam patterns matched. This is very likely a scam. Stop interacting immediately, block the sender, and report the message.
🛡️ 4 Golden Rules of Safety
Regardless of the score returned, protect yourself by following these rules:
- Do NOT click suspicious or unexpected links.
- Do NOT send money, wire transfers, Zelle, or gift cards to unverified people.
- Do NOT share verification codes or security codes with anyone.
- Do NOT type passwords on pages opened from a message link.
